Are you looking for a children’s devotional that is a bit different than what you normally see? Try and Story with beautiful watercolor pencil drawings! This is a unique story told through the eyes of two unnamed angels because the only real name in this entire journey is the ONE.

Have you ever been lost?

Immediately upon reading the into I started to think of the time I was lost and my parents couldn’t find me. Have you ever been lost? Have you ever had a child that was lost or you simply couldn’t find them and got that gut feeling until they were found. Once found you couldn’t help but hug them, even if a twinge of you wanted to yell because they had worried you? Well, that’s kind of how our Heavenly Father feels with us. This story is being told of the journey home, back to our Father because not all of us make it home. But those that do go through so many dangers on the way.

God with us in the beginning

We took one chapter at a time. Nicoli loved sitting beside me on the couch as we would read God with Us we began the chapter for the night. It is beautifully written, I must admit I loved this viewpoint because you totally feel being right there with them. The chapter (roughly 3-5 pages of text, 3 others pages are beautiful watercolor pictures) states what verses to read for it. Once we were done reading (which he loved finding in the bible) the verses (which he read of course, this is great for encouraging to get them to read more), one memory bible verse of the day to remember, we began our story with the angels for the night. This is a great way to go to bed because you are already in the word and what better way to fall asleep.

ABOUT GOD WITH US BOOK

Author Jeremy Pierre and illustrator Cassandra Clark want to awaken children to a brave journey — a journey home. This world is not our home. We live east of Eden and short of Heaven. The earlier children understand this, the more sense they can make out of this sad, wonderful place. This storybook aims to share their vision of the world as a place in-between, to awaken them to the brave journey they must take toward their true home — their home with God.

God is With Us Bible Verse

Many times we go through great times but when we seem to be doing what is aligned with God’s plans that is when we will be faced with trials and rough roads. Keep in mind it is during those times that we have to lean in on our faith, “God is with us always” and we know this because scripture tells us this. Plus, if you look back on your life, more than likely you can tell where he left little marks (breadcrumbs) that showed he was there.

The Lord of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our stronghold. Selah. – Psalm 46:7
