The Life of a Home Mom

23 Bible Verses for October

Ready for some October Bible verses? October seems to be all about fright and monsters these days so I wanted to compile a list for you to travel through the month. Gear up for some pretty tough questions for those of you that are new Christians, especially when your children start hearing more about Halloween.

Monsters will be a big topic for little kids in the next few weeks due to Halloween. This could of course scare quite a few children and some may actually ask if monsters were in the bible.

Were monsters in the bible?

In the NASB version, there are at least 9 mentions of monsters in the bible. Some believe the bible talks about monsters. I mean how else do you describe Revelations 1? Coming out of the sea, sharp teeth, 7 heads and 10 horns. That sounds like a definite monster to me. There was also Goliath (a giant), Satan, and many others. Remember just because something may seem scary (like the 7 heads), this does not stop God, he won in the end. As long as you have God on your side and you know his word you have nothing to fear.

How to do battle with the monsters?

But the world is full of stuff that might scare us if we don’t know it was real or not. So dig into the word, learn it, research it and memorize it. Then if you ever have to face your own demons (ie, monsters) you will have armor and weapons to defend yourself against them.

“And God created the great sea monsters and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarmed after their kind, and every winged bird after its kind; and God saw that it was good.” – Genesis 1:21

You know if God created them he can control them. Do not fear, pray to God to help you. He is and will always be right there when you need him. “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you. “So we can confidently say, The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” – Hebrews 13:5-6

Scriptures for dealing with Fear

For moms of wee ones here is a few verses you can turn into prayers to help your child sleep better at night. But even moms have big fears, some is the person that pops up behind us walking out of a store, to a knock on the door late at night. But as moms, we also fear if we are keeping our kids safe, raising them right, etc. Here are a few Bible Verses for October that deal with fear for both you and your little ones.

“I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.” – Psalms 4:8

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. – Psalm 23:4

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” – Joshua 1:9

“Do not be afraid of sudden terror, or of trouble from the wicked when it comes;  for the Lord will be your confidence, and will keep your foot from being caught.” – Proverbs 3:25-26

Bible Verses for Light into Darkness

Psalm 23:4 Bible Verse

How many children are scared of the dark? October doesn’t help with this since the nights start getting darker faster and monsters lurk around every corner. We don’t need to fear darkness.

Let’s be a light and stop the darkness around others. Share the love of God and our joy and just shine through it! Here’s some positive verses to show that true light really does defeat the darkness.

“I have come as Light into the world so that everyone who believes in Me will not remain in darkness.” – John 12:46

Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. – James 4:7

“This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light , and in Him there is no darkness at all.” – 1 John 1:5

The people walking in darkness Have seen a great light; On those living in the land of deep darkness, A light has dawned. You have enlarged the nation And increased their joy; They rejoice before You According to the joy of harvest, As men rejoice when they divide the spoil. – Isaiah 9:2-5

“for you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord; walk as children of Light.” – Ephesians 5:8

“And this is the judgment, that the light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light; for their deeds were evil. “For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. “But he who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God.” – John 3:19-21

“For God, who said, “Light shall shine out of darkness,” is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.” – 2 Corinthians 4:6

What does the bible say about No Fear?

Kids will be scared more in the month of October than any other month due to all the ghosts and monster topics they are sure to see or hear at school. Here are a few bible verses that will help them see there is nothing to fear.

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and a sound mind.” – 2 Timothy 1:7

In Proverbs, we hear that a wise man fears the Lord and shuns evil. Meaning if you fear upsetting God then you have nothing to be afraid of after that. Do the laws of the Lord and you shall be fine, he will protect you.

“You have not given me into the hand of the enemy; you have set my feet in a broad place.” – Psalm 18:32

When you have a relationship with God, you will automatically love and fear Him, there will be no room to fear anyone else. Now, this does not mean evil won’t try to attack your mind. Remember the moment you give in to any other type of fear, they will take that tiny bit and make it into a giant hole.

For nothing will be impossible with God – Luke 1:37

The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid? – Psalm 27:1

“Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; For the Lord God is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation.” – Isaiah 12:2

“Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.” – John 8:12

“In God I trust; I am not afraid. What can flesh do to me?” – Psalm 56:11

Above everything remember that God’s word is key, if you are struggling with anything in life his word can help you. It is the light in all the darkness. “Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.” Psalm 119:105

Why should we not have fear? That’s an easy one “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. ” (Romans 8:28) Everything will work out in the end. Stay in the word, pray and continue to grow your faith.

I hope the month of October treats you well. Remember the fear is in the dark, but with God all things are possible and fear is conquered! I hope these verses give you a sense of peace. Do you have any favorite bible verses to get you through October, fear, worry, or dark times?
