The Life of a Home Mom

Short Prayers for Moms Everyday Lives

Are you a mom that struggles with how to pray, what to pray for, or simply finding time to pray? In this post, I will show you a few short, simple prayers that you can do during your everyday life.

Moms that pray have a power greater than they imagine. Mathew 7:7-8 NASB; “7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.”

I have found that the power of prayer is a wonderful gift from God. Moms, just like children are all different, we come in all different shapes and sizes with different backgrounds. We also notice the differences from one of our children to the next. Which makes praying specifically for them a little bit easier, we know how to pray for them, what they need, etc.

It’s important to take time to pray, but it can be hard when you’re busy with your kids all day long. I don’t know about you but sometimes I forget to pray during the course of a busy day. Do you find it hard to fit in Prayer time? How do you maintain a routine? Remember it doesn’t have to take very long to have a conversation with God.

Here are 14 easy prayer ideas that you can do throughout your day – even if it’s just for 10 minutes or so at a time. Pick and choose which ones and grow your faith.

What Can Moms Pray for?

Moms have so many different things they can pray for and you can use these ideas to help get you started:

Prayers for your children. Prayers for encouragement and strength. For protection and safety. For myself, my marriage, my family business, or health issues that may come up throughout the day. A mom may pray over the family finances, home, etc. She may pray for the jobs of her husband and other adults in her life. Other ideas are prayers about food, school, friends, family members … basically, anything that comes to your mind can be a prayer request!

A short prayer for moms could be something as simple as this: “Dear God, thank you for helping me to love my kids today. Help me to see the great potential in them that I know is there. Please show me how to make this day great for them. And show me how I can improve things when they start fighting.”

This is a short and simple prayer that connects you with God in a personal way during your busy day while helping you be a more patient mother.

Prayers moms can say

Prayer #1 (For this day to come)

Heavenly Father, thank you for the new day and the possibilities that come with it. Thank you for my health, my family, and all of the people in my life. Thank you for the community that I live in, and thank you for all of the opportunities that you’ve given me. Please help me to be a positive force in this life. Amen.

Don’t forget you can throw in specifics if you feel led to do so.

Prayer #2 (For struggling times)

God, You are my strength when I am weak, you are always there in times of trouble; please help me to see your hand in this day and take comfort in knowing that you will never leave or forsake me. Thank You for loving me so much Lord. Amen.

Are you struggling with something today? Pray about it!

Prayer #3 (emotional days)

My heart is filled with so many emotions today, and I don’t know where to begin. Please help me to keep my eyes on You through this day so that everything will turn out alright in the end. Amen.

This one definitely helps if you are waiting to find out news from a doctor, court appointment, etc. Or just a day where you feel overwhelmed. Remember, God is always there and he wants to give you comfort.

Prayer #4 (Just asking for us to be thankful for the day)

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for waking me up this morning and giving me another day to live out Your holy plan on earth. Please help us see the truth of who we are in You – make our eyes open wide with wonder at what a treasure it is that we get to be partakers in! In Jesus’ name, amen.

Prayer #5 (a quick thank you for allowing us to feel at peace)

Dear Lord, thank you for the chance to rest in You today. Thank you that I can lay down my burdens and worries at Your feet knowing that you will carry them for me so I don’t fall over from carrying too much on my own. Showing me when I need to stop and allow others to step in. Amen.

Prayer #6 (another prayer for uneasiness for the future)

Heavenly Father, this day is full of unknowns. I don’t know what will happen or how it will all turn out in the end – but that’s okay because You do! Please give me patience today to wait on Your plan instead of rushing ahead with my own plans. May everything be done for Your glory and not mine so that I can rest easy in the knowledge that You are good and Your plans for me come from a place of love. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Prayer #7  (normal day life)

Heavenly Father, thank you for this day – even on those days when it doesn’t feel like anything special is happening at all! Please help me to take the time to rest and be still in You – even if I have a million things going on. May this day also be a chance for me to get closer to my family, friends, and co-workers so that we can all grow together into better people through every moment of life! In Jesus’ name, amen.

Remember even on normal days God wants us to lean into him. Many forget about God when they aren’t dealing with struggles. This is when you want to stay connected too.

Prayer #8

Dear Lord, thank you for the people in my life – and please help me to know how to best love and serve them today. Help me never forget that they are a gift from You so I can always treat them as such! In Jesus’ name, amen.

Prayer #9

Heavenly Father, help me to really see this day for what it is – a gift. Please help my eyes open wide with awe at the incredible beauty that You have put into every moment of life so I can enjoy being alive in all its glory! Amen.

Prayer #10

Dear God, thank you for another chance today to see and experience so many incredible things. Help me to be more grateful for You this day – because you deserve all of my praise! In Jesus’ name, amen.

Prayer #11

Heavenly Father, I may not always know what is going on around me today but that’s okay because Your plans are better than anything I could imagine. Please help me to see Your hand in everything that happens and may I always keep my eyes on You so that even when trouble comes, it will be a chance for us both to grow closer together! In Jesus’ name, amen.

Prayer #12

Dear Father, thank you for my children. Each child is a blessing from you as I am well aware. Please, Lord, I ask that you guide each one and love them as I know you do. Show them what to do next, who they are destined to be with, and encourage them as they need it. Nurture and love them when it is needed and help them live out your love for those around them. I ask that you guide them with your wisdom as they move forward with their life. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

Prayer #13 (for someone that is sick)

Dear Lord, I want to thank you for helping me through this illness and I pray that there would not be any aftereffects. Let the doctors find a cure, let me recover quickly and completely because your will is perfect. Please bless my family with peace and health during this time of stress. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Remember to pray as if it is already done, that God has already fixed the situation.

Even Short Prayers help Your walk with God

Your walk with God is a personal one. It will be different than mine, and your prayers may be different as well. There are no perfect prayers because God isn’t looking for the right words, He wants to hear our hearts speaking from a place of honesty and vulnerability. He wants you to spend time talking with him, just as Adam and Eve did in the very beginning. He wants to become your best friend in your everyday life.

I hope that these prayers have helped you to take a step closer to God and opened your eyes to the beauty in everyday life. Praying every day is difficult and definitely takes practice but it is so worth it. I believe that praying every day draws you closer to God and your relationship with him becomes stronger.
