I’ve been using my bible a lot lately, I blame it on my love for God and my Small Group every week. Going through my little bible though meant writing everything I wanted to remember in a notebook even when I felt God was talking to me, only one problem with that….there are no spaces except the tiny ones on the side of my pages. Do you go through this too? I found the cure to that though when I was asked to take a peek at the new Illuminated Bible.

How We Made the ESV Illuminated Bible from Crossway on Vimeo.

What’s the Illuminated Bible? I’m so glad you asked. This is a beautiful bible with gold trim on the pages. It features a 9 point type and two color printing on the pages. It has wide margins which makes taking notes so much easier.

When do you read your bible? For me, my time with God is 9am. When the kids are all off to work and little man is either sleeping, eating his breakfast or watching a cartoon. I love this time and enjoy it with coffee, the bible, notebooks and gospel music playing. I’d love to hear how you spend your time in the word.

There are actually 64 full-page illutrations, check this one out.  These are so beautiful just to thumb through and read and the beauty is even if you are reading the illustrations you are getting in the word of God. So many of these pages I just want to frame them.

That isn’t all though, they even have 50 full pages with verse illustrations! I love this! There are over 250 hand-lettered verses on the side margins as well as 100+ additional illustrations throughout the book. One of my favorite quotes from the bible are “I can do all things through HIM, who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13. I have seen this to be extremely true throughout my entire life. Just when you think you will break you get one more burst of life or even strength when most would just fall apart. What’s your favorite verse? Do you have a life verse?

The front of the book has a beautifully decorated dedication page for you to fill out and remember the day you got the book or gifted it. The best part is if you worry about ruining the sides after you put your bible down it comes in its own sturdy case. I plan on purchasing some bible tabs to make my bible complete. I have found that the margins draw even my kids into looking through the books because they like to see the pretty writing and drawing, which once again means they are reading the word more. How can anyone object to that?
