Glasses for the New School Year
While everyone is making those lists and checking them twice (no not to see who is naughty or nice) to make sure nothing is forgot off those back to school lists, there are some of us that need to add one more thing and we tend to forget. What item is it? Glasses. If your child had them last year then more than likely they will need them again this year, unless the eye doctor said their vision had improved.
However, with a new school year one tends to forget about glasses. If they are on the face then everything is good. But when was the last time you checked them?
1. Do they fit on his/her head properly? If your child is growing, their head may have grown more, making the glasses a bit off on the face. Make sure if they fit, they might have also got bent in the past few months so look to see if they are sitting on her face properly.
2. Can they see through them? By this I mean how badly scratched are they from one year to the next. Sure they have glass cleaner for them but sometimes, no matter how hard we try they get dinged up pretty badly, sat on, crushed, dropped on the ground, etc. Check them.
3. Are the screws loose? Believe it or not sometimes a screw will come loose during the course of a year and all it takes is a little tightening. Of course if that screw comes out, the glasses can fall apart and no one wants that. Don’t forget the eye glass shop might just have a tool kit for that, especially if you are just missing the tiny screw. No need buying a whole new pair for just that little piece.
For those of you that don’t know whether or not your child has perfect vision go get them checked, even if there is a small doubt in your mind. I had thought my daughter was dyslexic but it ended up she just needed glasses to see what was in front of her. Don’t let your child lose out on learning because of a vision problem.
Don’t forget your local eyeglass shops tend to have deals just before school. Currently Lenscrafts has quite a few deals for glasses.
Great tips!!
Glad I got this done just in time. The boys go back to school on August 24.
