If I Won The Lottery I would….
If I won the lottery I would do a whole lot of things, for starters I would pay off all my debts. I have roughly $70,000 in debt of my own and yes part of that is college loans that start coming out next year that I have absolutely no clue how I’m going to pay off on those. Isn’t it amazing how quickly debt or old bills can catch up and become this mountain that seems too high to even attempt to climb? Okay but on a serious note that is the very first thing I want to do with my lottery winnings.
Second, I would go and get a newer used minivan. You notice I did not say a brand new minivan even though I’d have tons of money thanks to winning the lottery. I know a good deal and I know those brand new vehicles always have to go through a first few years of recalls before everything is okay. I just want something that is nice, runs, has AC and heating, space for my kids, trunk space for grocery shopping (hey I’m a mom) and nothing wrong with it. My current minivan was bought off craigslist and has everything wrong with it but it gets me around and does my grocery shopping so we are good, for now.
I would definitely take each of the kids clothes shopping and get all types of stuff from undergarments to shirts, shoes, blouses, dresses, slacks, etc. Things I’ve never bought for them they will have and no more hand-me-downs. New quality stuff from the shelves and from nicer stores. I’d buy some property and have a house built with a garden and a hen house. While waiting I’d make sure to go to some of the places on my Bucket List and to take my kids on some great adventures and have them visit places of fun such as Disney World, Disney Land, Magic Mountain, Knott’s, Sea World, etc. I’d make sure my house was my pantry was stocked completely full. I also want to open up a shelter for girls that have been through a lot, ie molestation, rape, and/or trafficked (sold for drugs/sex/money). There are so many good things I’d want to do with it besides that but in a nut shell I’d get myself out of debt and start living the life that I was meant to live and haven’t done yet. I’d share my wealth in a way that would help others and invest the rest to ensure I never have to worry about where I’m going to live ever again. What would you do if you won the lottery?
This is Day 1 of the BlogTober Prompts so I’m already a day behind, come back around noon PST to see Day 2. My goal is to make sure I blog at least one post every day this month.
If I won the lotto I would book a trip to Ireland and Scotland for me and my husband. I would invest the rest of it to give myself an allowance every month.
I would book a month long trip to Disney World. Then I would pay off my house and bills.
I would pay off my debt, buy a new BIGGER home and move my mother in law into her OWN home 🙂
Pay off debt would be first here, too. And since that would mean our house was paid off, I’d buy a new house next!
I totally LOVE Robin’s answer, “I would book a month long trip to Disney World. Then I would pay off my house and bills”. lol I think paying off any debt would be a good first choice! From there depending on how much there is we would save for college and in futures.
It is really hard to sit and think about what I would really do if I won the lottery…you have a great list, though.
the first thing I would do is take a much needed vacation. Then payoff debts and help out family. It is great to dream
Yes, it really is hard to think about it. It’s a nice thought when you are struggling really bad though and are looking for something positive to grasp on to keep going.
It’s a game my siblings and I used to play when we were younger “If I won the lottery..” one of our first acts was always to take care of our parents. I still play that game sometimes. 🙂
If I won the lottery – I would give money to my kids and college funds for my grand kids – then leave on vacation! Australia here I come!
If I won the lottery I would definitely give Sallie Mae her money pronto…pay off all my debt and immediately go on a 3 month sabatical of traveling and excursion! I want to just travel and take pictures and be free…when I get back then I will worry about the rest – I love to daydream about hitting the lottery.
I would pay off all debt and put a down payment on a house. Then I would splurge on something for my family and save the rest.
I’d put away my kids’ college money first. Then, I’d pay off some debt then I’d buy one new to me car and do some home repairs and remodeling.
I would pay off my student loans and get a car!
Whoops, hit enter a little too fast! I would pay off my loans and get a car. One can only hope, right? Awesome prompt!
Wow, $70k does add up quickly. I hope you can find some way to pay those loans off quickly!
Thank you Christie, I thought I dropped that in there so no one would really notice. But it is true, that is just college and a few other little bills (that aren’t so little). This doesn’t even include the debts my husband has. Today I tell everyone not to take out college loans, if you can get scholarships or grants.
If I won the lottery I would pay of my house, and most likely give it to my sister. I would also help my family, and donate tons to help the needy and my church.
Now that I’m unemployed, I’d pay off the house first. I have always wanted to open up a school for kids and adults who really want to apply themselves and learn, and bring in trustworthy teacher who really want to apply themselves and share their knowledge with others.
My oh my. This things I would do. I couldn’t imagine a day of sadness. If I won the lotto I would be on vacation for the rest of my life.
I think I’d start with paying off the debts, then head some place tropical!
I would absolutely pay off my debts, donate some and take a well deserved vacay!
Oh I think about this a lot LOL
I’d pay off the house and be debt free. Donate some for sure to my fav charities. Put a tn in savings, because ya never know, and then travel!
If I won, I would take a trip to Europe! It’s on my bucket list.
If I the lottery, I would pay off some dept. And I would take my family on a trip.
Would pay off the truck and share it . Also a trip would be fun.
I would buy a large house on the ocean and a large sail boat, my husband and I talk about it quite a lot 🙂 We would change, that is for sure, in a good way.
