The Life of a Home Mom

First Nature Walk of the Year

Well with all this perfect weather we’ve been experiencing (haha) I took advantage of no snow and clouds and Little A and I took to the outdoors. Of course it is still just a bit too cold so we had to bundle u, once jackets were on we went out front and had to stop to play in the snow. In the pictures you’ll notice what looks to be slush, don’t let it fool you…it is treacherous ice and loves to try to see if it can make me land on my, ummm, bottom.
Our house (as I stated before) is the only house that has the most snow. Why? Because we lack the sun shining down on it and I guess because we are higher up. So of course every morning the kids flock to it as there are sheets of ice on both my drive and the one next to me. It’s fun to watch them twirl on the ice or for the guys to pretend they are skiing, it takes you back to your own childhood as you watch them giggle and laugh and for a brief moment you remember something from way back when and smile. It is funny, they all know I’m up above with the window opened a crack watching out for them but they no longer seem to mind, instead they’ll shout up, “How much longer?” They’ve heard my daughter ask, which normally means how much longer until we walk to the end of the block and catch the bus. At a certain time they all head down and finally they all have started telling me good bye and to have a nice day.

Once the girls were gone I came into the living room where Little A was loading up his Veggie Tales which told me he was good to go since he’d already ate breakfast with the girls. No stalling it was time to hit my books and get my report done. By noon we’d played games online together, pushed cars on the carpet and snuggled. I was still doing my homework but needed a break.

We went outside and hit the snow first. Once we were done with the snow we walked around the house to show him that the snow was all gone in the backyard, I think he was a bit confused. Then he ran up and down a hill, finally we walked down the street to the small creek and he watched the water run through the snow and then got bored and chased the birds. It was fun and if weather permits we’ll try again tomorrow.
