The Life of a Home Mom

Blessed to Be a Mom: What the Bible Says About Motherhood

I want to dive into something very close to our hearts: what the Bible says about being a mom. As we navigate the beautiful chaos of motherhood, it’s comforting to know that we’re not alone—that there’s wisdom and guidance waiting for us in those sacred pages. We don’t have to be perfect either.

First off, let me start by saying: you are so, so important. Sometimes in the midst of diaper changes, homework help, and endless laundry, it’s easy to forget just how essential our role as moms truly is. Trust me I have felt this on many occasion. But let me remind you: you are shaping hearts, minds, and souls every single day. What you do matters, more than you may ever realize.

Now, let’s turn to the Bible for some insight into just how special moms are in the eyes of God. One of my favorite passages about motherhood comes from Proverbs 31:25-28. It says:

“She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.”

Isn’t that beautiful? It paints a picture of a mom who is strong, wise, and deeply loved by her family. It reminds us that our work as moms is not just about changing diapers and packing lunches—it’s about creating a home filled with love, laughter, and faith. I love this very vivid picture of motherhood, much better than crazy hair, a mess nearby, dinner burning and a diaper changing.

Another passage that speaks to the importance of moms is found in Psalm 127:3: “Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him.” This verse reminds us that our children are precious gifts from God Himself. It’s a reminder that even on the toughest days of motherhood, when we’re exhausted and overwhelmed, we are entrusted with something truly special.

But perhaps the most powerful example of motherhood in the Bible comes from the story of Mary, the mother of Jesus. Can you imagine being chosen to raise the Son of God? Talk about pressure! I bet even Mary had doubts a time or two. Yet Mary embraced her role with grace and courage, trusting in God’s plan every step of the way. She’s a reminder to us all that God equips those He calls, even us moms in the trenches of everyday life.

So, mama, as you go about your day today, I want you to remember this: you are seen, you are valued, and you are loved beyond measure. Your role as a mom is one of the most important jobs in the world, and God is with you every step of the way. So take a deep breath, pour yourself another cup of coffee (or tea, or whatever fuels your mama soul), and know that you are doing an amazing job, even if today you weren’t feeling it. Keep loving, keep teaching, and keep pointing your little ones to Jesus. You’ve got this, mama!

Sending you all the love and virtual hugs,

Eliza
