14 Best Valentine’s Day Gifts for Your Kids

Valentine’s Day is such a fun holiday to teach your kids about kindness and love. It is also a day to share joy with others and make everyone feel special. This isn’t just a day for couples, but everyone around you. Plus, it is an excuse to shower your kids or grandchildren with extra love too! Here are some of the best Valentine’s Day gifts to give your kids this year!

1.  Sugar-Free Candy Options

Kids will more than likely get a ton of candy at school, so they don’t really need any more from you. But, if you want to give a few pieces, try out some sugar-free candy or plant-based candies with as little added sugar as possible. This will help your kids not have a sugar crash later on in the day or get cranky. I recommend reminding them to brush their teeth thoroughly to ensure no cavities.

2.  Diffuser Teddy Bear

If your child loves stuffed animals, try out a diffuser teddy bear! Aromatherapy stuffed animals are basically the same as normal stuffed animals but will usually have a felt spot that helps keep the essential oil smell present. Add a drop of essential oil like lavender to your little one’s bear, and they will be more relaxed in no time! These teddy bears are perfect to help them get to sleep. Most kid diffuser animals come with a kid-safe essential oil as a bundle, but if not, make sure to grab some kid-safe essential oils before placing them on the bear.

3.  Hot/Cold Stuffed Animal

Another great stuffed animal idea is the rice-filled ones, where you can heat them up or cool them down in the freezer. When your child gets hurt, you can help them feel better with their stuffed animal instead of a regular rice pack! These are great for earaches, growing pains, and bruises. Yes, even for those teen girls when it is that time of month heat up this stuffed animal to help the cramps go away.

4.  A Valentine’s Day Craft Kit for your Little one

There are plenty of craft kits all over the place, especially Valentine’s Day-themed ones. Kids love being creative and making something all on their own. You can buy any kind of craft supplies, and they would be happy! Try to find a kit you can make together to make it extra fun for both of you. By the way, it doesn’t have to be Valentine-themed, my son loves space so I’d get him something related that we can work on and hang up later.

5.  Positive Affirmation Cards to Show Your Love

A lot of kids struggle with their self-esteem, especially around this holiday. Positive affirmation cards help kids practice self-love and give them the confidence and happiness they need. Saying affirmations daily will also help them know their worth, excel in school, and be able to adapt and work through challenging times. Grab them a fun card deck they can say before school each morning!

6.  Coupons Books From You

If you want to make something for your kids for Valentine’s Day, make some fun coupons to give them. Most of the time, kids give their moms coupons during Mother’s Day, so they will love to receive them from you! You can give vouchers for a bubble bath with a bath bomb, a date to get ice cream with you, a movie day where they pick the movie, take a mental health day from school, have a spa night, or make their favorite dinner meal. You know your child best, pick coupons of things you know they’ll love to receive.

Valentine Gift: Gift of your time

7.  A Date Alone with You

Give the gift of an experience and take each of your children out on a date alone with you. You can go get their favorite dessert and talk, or go on a different adventure with each one. These gifts are often the best to give kids and the most memorable. You do not have to do this activity on Valentine’s Day, especially if you have multiple children. Instead, create a fun coupon or picture to show them what you plan to do and when.

Or give them the certificate and have them fill it out. Ever see the movie “Yes, Day” think of some rules and ask them to pick something. Or give them a list of places/activities they can do with you and they circle which one. Kids love to feel like they are an adult and old enough to make some decisions.

8.  New Books for Your Child

Books are educational and super beneficial for kids, but they are a lot of fun too. Try to get books you know your kids will love to read and are appropriate for their age groups. You can also find some pretty awesome activity books for all ages that would be great for those who struggle to read. If you seriously don’t know what book to get, grab them a gift card and make a date to your local bookstore with them.

9.  Matching Jewelry

If you have a child who loves jewelry, try finding a matching set to share with them. Little girls have always loved trying on their mother’s jewelry, this would definitely mean the world to them. There are plenty of mother/daughter bracelets and necklaces that would make for the perfect Valentine’s Day gift for kids. It would also be fun to make your own set together!

10. What I Love About You Book

This is another unique gift that kids most often give us, but kids always need to hear how much we love them. Creating a “What I Love About You” book will help your child see themselves through your eyes. They will find this book precious and turn to it often when they struggle, even if you never see them read it. Just think this is the one moment they will know how much you see them and how important they are to you.

Valentine gift: Self-confidence

11. Open When Letters

“Open When…” letters are another fun gift you can give your kids. These letters are personable to each child (only you know their strengths and weaknesses) and will help them throughout their life. Some examples of “Open When…” letters include:

  • Open when… you had a bad day
  • Open when… you are feeling sad
  • Open when… you reached your goal
  • Open when… you are missing me
  • Open when… you get that first “bad letter” grade
  • Open when… you are X years old
  • Open when… you get that first boyfriend/girlfriend
  • Open when… you go on your first date
  • Open when… you have your first break up
  • Open when… you had your first kiss
  • Open when… you need a pick me up
  • Open when… you need advice
  • Open when… you are embarrassed
  • Open when… you need a hug

Make sure to write both happy and sad letters. This will show your child that you are there for them during the good times and the bad times.

12. Customized Toys

There are plenty of customized toys you can get your kids to make them feel special. If you have younger kids, you can find name crayons or give them a puzzle with their names spelled out. I have kids that can’t always get things in their name so a personalized name teddy bear would be amazing. For older kids, you can find plenty of personalized jewelry, keychains, posters, and so much more. Try to find things that you know your child will enjoy, making it much more special.

13. Buy them Flowers and Plants

Kids and teens love flowers and plants too! Have you ever bought your child flowers or a plant? Try it, they may just shock you on how excited they get. This is definitely one item they won’t expect coming. I still remember the time my dad got my sister and me carnations on Valentine’s Day. It meant the world to me that I got something just as lovely as our mother did. Raise the bar for your children to know how they should be treated.

Maybe you want to give your kids something that lasts longer than flowers, try getting them an easy plant. This way every time they see this plant they remember your love.

14. Get them a gift of their passion

Most of us know the one item our child really wants but may and may not tell us. Or maybe they just like a certain hobby but don’t typically put it on their birthday or Christmas list. Grab something that you know they’ll like from their passion. I have one daughter that loves makeup and another that loves bible journaling. Sons that love video games, youtube, and sports. Each child is completely different but if I got something from the passions they would know I thought about them more than just walking into the store and grabbing something off the shelf. I had to think of them and search for the item.

This Valentine’s Day, do something other than chocolate, flowers, and a card. Make this year more special with personalized gifts you know your child will love. While these 12 items will make a great gift for your kids on Valentine’s Day, ultimately, you know your child best. Make this year the best Valentine’s Day they have ever had!
