For those that may not know, I have a 13 yr old daughter that absolutely loves STEM and everything to do with Coding. In fact, when her school announces the Fall camps for it she gets excited and is one of the first ones to sign up. So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that when I was asked if I’d like to test out the STEM Learning & Educational Toy Product called Ozobot Evo carried by Best Buy I said yes.

STEM for those that may not realize stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math and STEM products encourage kids to develop core skills in these areas. Best Buy carries products from basic learning games to advanced toys designed to stimulate a child’s mind in the STEM areas, helping to develop logic and problem-solving skills.
Before we get into what’s in the Ozobot Bit Starter Pack box let me just tell you as soon as it came Bella couldn’t wait to try it out. Yes, it says 6+ but it just means + ha ha. Once you get the box open (I struggled a bit) inside looks like a little locker. Your manuals and board are in the door that drops down. Your markers, Evo (evo skin), and the usb cord are all in the doors that look like a locker. This is so cute, maybe I’m just missing school.
It doesn’t take long to set up, you do have to go to your app store to download the Ozobot Evo app and once you do that you can start playing. Immediately Bella wanted to go to the website to see what she could code. When your phone is logged into the game it’ll even let you know when Evo (Eva for us) is done recharging.
Have the kids draw their colored circles and colored lines with the markers on paper so Evo can explore. Each color will make him do something different. Make sure they read to find out what he will do. Evo has optical sensors at the bottom of him which helps him know what to do. The neat thing is watching him scan the area to find the next color before they slingshot him. There are actually 20 activities are included with this Ozobot 2.0 Bit starter pack, more are downloadable from the Ozobot app for even more fun.

We hope you enjoy the video and have a ton of fun coding with your little Evo. The Starter pack is $59.99 and for ages 6+. Oh, one more favorite part of mine is that they can play against others if they meet other kids with them.
