Garage Door Safety

Every year there are around 20,000 accidents that happen from garages that someone is rushed to the hospital for.  Many of these accidents could be prevented with a few tips that will be provided below, but as we all know, sometimes garage doors are just unpredictable.

·         Doors are heavy – never stand, run or play under or near any garage door, especially when the door is open or moving.

·         Openers are for adults – never play with the button on the wall that opens and closes the garage door.

·         Ouch! – never touch any part of a moving garage door. Your fingers and hands can get hurt!

·         Remotes are for adults – never play with the remote control in the car or on Mom and Dad’s keychain.

  4. Yikes! Garage doors are heavier than I thought. Also, my 1970s-era garage door openers don’t have any safety features whatsoever, so I’m always a little nervous when they’re closing. Sounds like it’s time I upgraded.

    I got all right! Although I must admit I had to guess at the weight of the garage doors! I knew they were heavy…but didnt realize that they are at least 125 pounds. Thats alot of weight! Great reminders of safety!
