The Back To School Countdown

The first day of school for my wee ones is August 12th! Can you believe it? It seems that this summer just began for us, with a month in hotels and moving. Now that we are just getting settled they will soon be leaving me. Course I can’t say that it is a bad thing since they are now at each other’s throats in the worst possible way. When do your kids go back?

Preparations for School:

- Get the girls to learn their Lunch Pin #
- Get the kids back on a bedtime schedule
- Get BabyGirl to eat FASTER
- Pay for all book fees (remember they are rentals)
- Decide what will be in their lunches
- still need to get school clothes but I’ll wait
- decide if I want to be a PTO mom/homeroom mom
- Make sure BabyGirl’s glasses still fit

Any advice?

No advice, but a memory of how much I loved the back to school feeling! New supplies, new clothes, the routine of it all. Hmm, maybe I was a bit of a geek!

  2. They start August 12th!! WOW!! My bday is the 14th and I remember one year we started on my birthday…what happen to the days when school didn’t start until September??

  3. My advice: get bins ready to store their shoes and socks. Hang hooks just above for lunch boxes and back-packs. This is the only thing that saves my sanity with my 4 little boys! Good luck!

@Katie boy do I miss the days when they began in September, course I miss the days when it was just slightly cooler too. What’s up with all this weather?

@Jennifer I hadn’t thought of bins but will definitely grab some the next time I’m up at Walmart. You know I always thought of doing the little cubbie section by the front door with hooks, maybe I’ll try that here since this is a new place.

@Sandi Yep tis is one of my favorite times too just because of all the fun goodies.

My kids start back on the 25th. On one hand, it can’t come soon enough but on the other, I’m not ready. Where did the time go? And is it just me, or does it seem like as soon as school starts that it’s time to get ready for the holidays?? It’s August and I can already see the end of the year. When did time start moving so fast?

  6. Yay for getting ready early!!

If you want tips, I am doing a back to school series at my blog. The biggest thing is to work now to get ready – don’t wait until the last minute.

Break it down into weeks (and even days, for me) with a task or two each day. This week was for me to finish getting school supplies. Next week is to get haircuts and my son’s shoes. The following week they start.

    Good luck! :)
