How many of you remember watching Star Search when you were younger? Did you ever dream of getting up on the stage and singing yourself? I remember wishing, even doing that with my friends. For years my siblings would throw a word out and see if I could sing a song about whatever it was. I LOVED to sing.  Even in my early 20’s I would sing karaoke with a few close friends/family members, it wasn’t until I got sick that I stopped singing. This wouldn’t stop me though when I attended local gatherings and we’d sing holiday songs. Yes, I still love to sing. My kids love to sing, so why would I miss out on watching SING by Universal Pictures. This looks like such a cute movie, one many of us can relate to as well.

About the film
Illumination has captivated audiences all over the world with the beloved hits Despicable Me, Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax, Despicable Me 2 and Minions, now the second-highest-grossing animated movie in history. Following the release of this summer’s comedy blockbuster The Secret Life of Pets, Illumination presents Sing this holiday season. How many of you went and saw that? I really liked that movie and so did the kids, in fact the younger boys want dogs now because of it.

EddieTheEagle-Poster

I love watching the winter sports so I was excited to hear about this movie coming out. Inspired by true events, Eddie the Eagle is a feel-good story about Michael “Eddie” Edwards, an unlikely but courageous British ski-jumper who never stopped believing in himself and was loveable underdog with a never say die attitude.

DF-02587 - Bronson (Hugh Jackman) puts things in perspective for aspiring ski jumper Eddie (Taron Egerton).

How many of my readers are actually gamers or have a child or two that love playing video games? Maybe you have a spouse that loved them as a child (or still do)? Chances are if you did you’ve probably already heard of this but just in case you have not I wanted to let ya’ll know of a new movie coming out that is based off a video game. I know at least two kids (boys) that’ll be watching and probably right along with their daddy.

Ratchet & Clank is A CG-animated movie based on the iconic PlayStation video game. Two unlikely heroes struggle to stop a vile alien named Chairman Drek from destroying every planet in the Solana Galaxy. Ratchet is the last of his kind, a foolhardy “lombax” who has grown up alone on a backwater planet with no family of his own. Clank is a pint-sized robot with more brains than brawn. When the two stumble upon a dangerous weapon capable of destroying entire planets, they must join forces with a team of colorful heroes called The Galactic Rangers in order to save the galaxy. Along the way, they will learn about heroism, friendship, and the importance of discovering one’s own identity.

Black or White DVD Release

May 5, 2015 By · 79 Comments

Disclosure: I was sent the movie for compensation and have affiliate links in the post..

Black Or White is the story of a grandfather (Academy Award® winner Kevin Costner) who is suddenly left to care for his beloved granddaughter. When her paternal grandmother (Academy Award® winner Octavia Spencer) seeks custody with the help of her brother (Anthony Mackie), the little girl is torn between two families who love her deeply.

With the best intentions at heart, both families fight for what they feel is right and are soon forced to confront their true feelings about race, forgiveness, and understanding. Anchored by an all-star cast and based on real events, the movie is a look at two seemingly different worlds, in which nothing is as simple as black or white.

I haven’t seen this movie myself, but the kids and I can’t wait for it to hit the store shelves so we can watch it. I have always loved Kevin Costner in his movies and I think this tear-jerker will definitely be a keeper. Black or White is now out on Blu-ray and DVD.

Update:

How many of you have actually seen this movie? I thought it was a very good movie and perfect to watch with your family. Don’t think you can watch this without a box of tissues nearby though. BabyGirl and I were in tears watching this.
