End of Summer Traditions

September 2, 2011 By · No Comments

What are your “end of summer traditions”? For our family we normally just like to make sure we hang out together which normally means I do some type of small mini party with the kids. It might be a BBQ, sleepover in the living room watching movies all night while partying it out with snacks, etc. I know that once school starts we really won’t be able to do these type of things (all-nighters) because of the bedtime routines unless they are on break.

We actually did all the above just before and right after school started back up. Why? Because not all of us were together when school started and we still wanted to spend one more afternoon together. This past Friday the kids and I rented a few movies: GhostTown, Quarantine 2: terminal (after younger ones go to bed) and also Yogi Bear.

I asked them what they wanted to have to go with this, we grabbed some Oreo cookies & milk and had mac n cheese for dinner. Like I said it was THEIR choice, not mine. For their drinks they requested #ClearAmerican water, each one got to pick their favorite flavor. By the way these have become the kids’ choice drinks now, as many of you know SoccerBoy gave up on sodas in February and the others just prefer Clear American waters. As for me I’m happy that they are really drinking flavored waters and it only costs .64 each.

They loved watching Yogi Bear and Ghost Town, now if you watch Ghost Town be prepared for a few tears but it is a good movie. If you watched Yogi Bear as a child and watch it now, not to worry….you’ll still love it. To be honest I never got to watch Quarantine. I’m including two pictures above to show you how goofy SoccerBoy was being when we were picking out the drinks. He was a nut, dancing around picking out the drinks and then showing them off. hehe. Gotta love when they can have fun in front of the camera.

We also did a BBQ and I’m sorry I didn’t get pictures, but I do have some of the kids at the park which are above. I hope you enjoyed our summer traditions. I’d love to hear some of yours. We are planning another BBQ this weekend and kids have requested their favorite Clear American drinks once again. Hmmm, we shall see. 🙂

Fun with Clear American Floats

August 20, 2011 By · 2 Comments

Here’s some more pictures of the kids having fun with their #ClearAmerican Floats. Enjoy the pictures. Once again the recipe is one Clear American Water of your choice from Walmart, ice cream (we prefer vanilla) and a cup. That’s it! I have discovered I do NOT like the strawberry ice cream with the strawberry waters. I do still love the wild cherry with vanilla ice cream though. How do you like it? By the way, my kids absolutely LOVE Clear American water, they ask for it every time we go to the stores and were very upset when we went to a different store and they didn’t have it.

Clear American Water Floats

August 18, 2011 By · No Comments

These past two weeks the kids have discovered a new treat that they absolutely love. I must admit that while they seem to love just about every flavor imaginable I do not. But I do like certain ones. So without further explanation I’ll just jump right to it. This week we were challenged to come up with a treat using Clear American Water. Now I don’t have an oven living in a hotel so any type of baking was out of the question, but it has been so hot and ice cream floats sounded so good when the kids came up with it that we just had to try it. Guess what? It works!

Recipe: (it is really simple)

1 pint (or whatever size) ice cream (we liked vanilla ice cream best)

1 Clear American drink (let them pick a favorite, my kids like the Key Lime, but I like wild cherry best)

1 cup

1 spoon

Directions: Plop two scoops or more of your ice cream in a cup and fill it up with Clear American. Now drop a spoon in and let your child have at it. It makes for a great summer drink.

Pay it Forward with Clear American Water

August 2, 2011 By · 1 Comment

Last week the kids and I went to Walmart and purchased more #ClearAmericanWaters this time we were on a mission to pay it forward. The first thing I asked the kids was who they wanted to give the Clear American waters too since I wanted this to be a lesson as well to them and show them that you can give to someone without expecting something in return. I was proven wrong by the way but not for the reason you think.

The kids decided it would be totally random, people they didn’t know and people that “looked hot.” We had bought 4 of their favorite Clear American Water flavors and stuck them in the fridge for a few hours before we ventured out. But Little A wanted to do something too and asked to give them candy bars. By the way when he calls something a candy bar he is meaning granola bars because those are HIS candy bars. So armed with a video camera, my phone, (for quick pics) the waters and granola bars we all gathered into the car. We went around 1-2pm which meant it was HOT out here in Indiana.

The first stop would be a man holding a sign for “cash for gold” and immediately BalletGirl requested him. She is right he’s outside every day with headphones in his ear and just holding this sign up. I kind of felt sorry for him. I quickly got out, let him know what we were doing and asked if he’d be okay if she’d give him some clear american water and a granola bar. He happily said yes and smiled and said thank you when she gave them to him. He got key lime water, which is her favorite.

The next one was actually in the same area, he was mowing a huge lawn so I stopped, explained and once again he too said yes. This time it was BabyGirl and she gave him the Kiwi-strawberry water and Little A gave him the granola bar (he gave all them one). Once again we got a big smile and a thank you. She went back to the car with all types of smiles on her face.

We couldn’t find many out, we had hoped we’d see the man that is always holding a “please help I need money and I’m homeless” but we didn’t. So we stopped off at Walmart to where they were having a race car thing and saw some workers that looked hot under an umbrella area with no drinks. I explained what we were doing and they said they’d happily take them, it was kind of funny seeing how they worked there and that was originally where we got them. But as we walked around we did notice them drinking the drinks.

That night I asked the kids what they learned: “Mom, you do get something when you do something nice.” They explained they felt good about doing it and that they all got a thank you and a smile. Now that’s paying it forward. Will you pay it forward?

Bringing#ClearAmerican Water to a Pool Party

July 23, 2011 By · 5 Comments

Yesterday the kids and I were invited over to a friends’ house to go swimming. I didn’t want to show up empty handed so I thought long and hard about what to bring. I decided that no matter what I wanted to make sure everyone had a drink since it has been around 95 degrees but with humidity it has reached around 115. I wasn’t sure what our friends would like to drink but I knew mine had to be hydrated so I went to Walmart to get waters!

Uh oh right? The mom that’s going to bring waters to a get together. I really wondered about this, I would no longer be a cool mom. (course not sure if I was but now I may never be) Either way I walked through Walmart and looked around. I saw Nestle Water, Sobe juices, tea which are all favorites of mine but I wanted something more with a choice. The kids recently tried Clear American Waters and loved them so we went down the water aisle to see if they had the flavors the kids liked. Sure enough they did. BalletGirl loves the Key Lime as it tastes like Sprite (her words not mine), BabyGirl loves the strawberry, Little A decided he wanted the cranberry, SoccerBoy picked a Fuji Apple Pear. SoccerBoy wasn’t sure about his because it was a new one but wanted to try it anyways. I grabbed a Wild Cherry and decided to get one more of each for our friends.

Upon arriving I let them all know we brought waters for everyone. They didn’t seem to sure but once outside they all decided to try them.

I noticed my friend checking to see what all was in the waters. By the way The Clear American Waters have 0% juice, 0 calories, 0 sugar, etc. These are awesome and so much better for the kids to have. She agreed.

Guess what? They loved them, in fact Zman (our friend’s son) asked his mom if she’d go to Walmart after the pool and buy some so they could have it at home. I was requested to bring more the next time we get together, we’ll be getting together next time. I am happy to say the Clear American waters were a hit!
