Review: Nanny McPhee Returns

We just watched “Nanny McPhee Returns” from Redbox and I must say it wasn’t anything like I thought it would be. Out of all honesty I just figured it would be the same family over again just misbehaving but it wasn’t. It had a refreshing turn and yes some of Nanny McPhee’s antics were the same (broom tapping on the ground) but the entire thing was a different cast, set on a farm with a house full of children. Check out what all we got, first we stopped off at MurphyUSA for the coke (and candy) then we went to Walmart to get Ice cream and a marie calendar meal bake (lasagna) and finally we found one Redbox that actually had the movie. Check below this shop for our review.

It starts off with the kids immediately fighting left and right (reminded me of mine, hey I won’t lie sometimes they get like that I do have 4) but seeing the kids jumping up and down on the furniture was just too much for me. I cringed at the thought, that’s one thing I don’t allow. But this is one family, a mom that has been left to fend for her family while her hubby goes off to war. I think that is why I really liked it, being a woman that had her husband fighting in Iraq while I was home with our kids not once but twice I know the struggles. Maggie Gyllenhaal played the Isabel, mom of three left to keep up the farm and run a store in town. She hasn’t heard from her husband in three long months and they have no clue whether he is alive or dead, just holding out hope.

She’s trying to control the kids as best she can but she must leave them fighting to run the store in town, she begs them to clean the house as their cousins are coming. The cousins that are really rich and have the fancy clothes, cars, etc. Now imagine them coming to a farm. HA! There are some funny scenes when the cousins arrive, especially since there is a lot of mud. When Isabel gets to the store she sees Mrs.Dosherty (Maggie Smith) has tried organizing the office and has flour all over the floor, by the time she leaves she finds syrup in the drawers. Eeek. I’d be really going nuts by now and here she is hearing voices “You need…Nanny McPhee” and thinks she’s lost it. Course she is constantly running into her brother in law who is a gambler and needs money desperately before they come for him and he’s trying to convince her of selling the farm.

How will she function with her three kids and the two cousins visiting? Nanny McPhee pops in just at the nick of time and things begin to change. There are a ton of hiliarious scenes that will have you laughing but there are also some sad scenes that may have tears streak down your face. But Nanny McPhee will shape the family up in 5 steps:

Stop Fighting
Share nicely
Helps each other
To be brave
To have faith

In the end you’ll be happy you watched it, but there will be days when you wish Nanny McPhee would come to your own house to help you out. I know I wanted her here yesterday. hehe. Thumbs up. As for the kids:

Soccerboy: Loved watching the pigs doing their tricks. BalletGirl loved watching them dance. BabyGirl loved watching the kids fight themselves and Little A fell asleep. He did watch it later and laughed all the way through it.

I loved Nanny McPhee Returns! I like how she has the 5 lessons to be learned and got less ugly as the lessons were learned. That was awesome. I had seen the first one a few years ago and it was great, and this one is just as good. I watched this with my nephew on DISH Online and he loved it just as much as I did. I love using DISH Online because it has hundreds of shows to choose from, but just for being a DISH Network customer; I have access to thousands more shows and movies like Nanny McPhee Returns that my nephew and I can watch all the time! Since I subscribe to HBO as well, I have access to even more movies and shows than ever! So I am sure that we will never run out of good things to watch. As an employee of DISH Network, I have had a lot of time to play with the site and I know that DISH Online has something to offer anyone and everyone! I suggest taking a look at dishonline.com to see what it can offer you!
