Movies & Eating Out

This weekend we wanted to do something as a family. As ya’ll know I have been watching what I eat and working out, just about every day of this month. So it was time to toss in some fun with that new lifestyle change I was working on. We decided to take the kids to Logan’s and then to a movie. They had no clue what was in store for them so it was exciting all at the same time. When they saw we were pulling into Logan’s they said, “But mom can’t eat this, there is nothing healthy.” I couldn’t help but laugh, because I knew they were not only watching out for me but I’d get to surprise them with a “Yes they do have healthy food here, in fact they have a menu just for me.”

The wait wasn’t that long, but the kids did grab a few peanuts to snack on while they waited. While these are suppose to be healthy for you there is one thing I should mention, I will never eat a peanut in a barrel, especially right beside the bathroom doors. I’m not going into details but you can use your imagination. I prefer the kids didn’t but they always somehow grab a handful so I didn’t say anything this trip. Here’s a picture of BalletGirl digging into the peanuts.

Now just to let you know, if you are watching your weight or how many calories go into your body Logan’s does have a “Healthy Nut” menu which has meals (not just one item) under 550 calories. I always get fish so I got the Mesquite salmon, last time I had the mesquite tilapia. Which both meals come with a bowl of steamed broccoli and a house salad.

Once we were done we went searching for a movie theater we’d seen was only a buck. Kids quickly figured out what we were doing as we got out of the car and started walking up. They were playing “Megamind” which was not something I really wanted to see but knew hubby and the younger ones wanted too, instead I opted to see “The Next Three Days” with SoccerBoy. He likes those scary, intense type of movies so it sounded good. I highly recommend “The Next Three Days” it’ll be a movie you don’t want to bring the younger ones, make sure you pee as you don’t want to miss a single moment of this movie. Take a peek at the trailer below:

By the way after the movie it was time to eat, but I had the hubby drop me off so I could eat my Lean Cuisine for dinner. They went to eat at Golden Corral which I wasn’t even going to try to find something to eat there. I think I’ve done really good, this weekend was fun and shows you can have fun with your family and eat out or even go to the movies without worrying about calories. By the way I didn’t eat or drink anything at the movies.
