Beautiful scenery of the desert where I live. This was just one evening out here, I was so amazed by how beautiful the sky was. In Indiana you didn’t always get to see the beautiful sky because of the trees or the clouds covering the night sky, out here you get to see everything for miles and miles which would normally not impress me but a view like this is breathtaking. I just had to share.
SoccerBoy is hooked on Yoursphere and now even more. On our way home from Indiana there was an email for Soccerboy congratulating him for a contest he’d won on the Yoursphere site. See he had recently entered one of the contests. (there contests are really simple to enter)
The contest was a guess what I am, it had 3 or 4 pictures you had to figure out the theme. He said one was clown hair, another cotton candy, a peanut and he just figured it was a circus. You click the little contest link and it asks for the answer and that’s it. He won a Gift Certificate to a place called Tilly’s. I’ve no clue what that is but I’m sure either he knows or I’ll be looking it up very soon. He can’t wait to get it.
If you have a child, I guarantee they’ll LOVE Yoursphere and you’ll like that only kids play it. My son says it is like Facebook but for teens, not everyone.
Have you tried it?

My kids have been loving the Yoursphere site. Have yours tried it yet? www.yoursphere.com (Soccerboy_3000 & BalletGirl) Use the code for a free membership: YSMC-0060 Since the last posting they’ve been exploring the wonders of the site and their favorite thing seems to be creating spheres (kind of like making their own mini discussion boards on certain topics and entering the games/contests.
Soccerboy has created a “RollerCoasters around the World” sphere and “End of the World” movies sphere. BalletGirl has created one for “Upcoming Movies” and already has quite a number of followers commenting. They’ve also joined a number of other sphere’s and left comments. It seems they are loving the Anime, Japanese Anime and any TV series ones.
The site is very easy to navigate, the kids got them up with no problem…well except for the fact that our computer (mouse) decided it was double clicking everything for about a week so we had to wait to finish their set ups. Now they are up and loading their videos/pics and comments to the site. I think Yoursphere will be a great place for them to hang out online this summer since we’ll be on the road.
I wrote this review while participating in the Yoursphere Test Drive program by Mom Central on behalf of Yoursphere. I received a free lifetime Gold membership on Yoursphere.com, I will also be getting a Yoursphere t-shirts, and a $50 American Express gift card to facilitate my review.
I know that probably sounds very confusing but MomCentral recently asked me to head over and visit a new social site called, “Yoursphere.” First I want you to know this is a FREE site. Yoursphere is a great site where kids can go online and talk amongst themselves, it reminds me of a mixture of Ping and Facebook with a bit of Twitter mixed in. The best part is, the parents get to sign their kids up and can watch what they do week by week. Love it?
I signed both of my children up, one is under 13 and must have different guidelines than my 13 year old. But I can still view both accounts. I’ve been watching my son, Soccerboy (age 13) get on and have fun. His favorite part about Yoursphere so far is the contest page.
When he logs in he can check to see if he has any messages or friend request, this is one of the first things he wants to do as soon as he gets home. Once on his homepage he can also view how many credits he has, the credits he can later exchange for gifts from the Gift Gallery. Currently the lowest amount of credits if 450 so he has a little while to go with 91 credits in his account. This doesn’t phase him though as there are a lot of sphere (subjects) that he likes and is having fun with.
Some prizes he could get are: Harry Potter DVD, Karokee Revolution Wii, The Blind Side DVD, and many different types of gift cards.
Currently he is the member of two spheres: TV & Movies and of course every teens favorite thing…Gaming. He can go into the subject areas and join in on any of the discussions there. Reading things such as reviews of games to tips and tricks that’ll help him through it.
He loves to enter all the contests they have here are a few right now: Spring Photo Contest, Who Am I (you guess by looking at a small portion of a picture), Write a Caption, Choose a Nickname, etc. As you can see there are a variety and if you become a winner you get more credits and of course when a prize.
He’s not fond of the blog portion but that’s probably because he hates to blog, he prefers the simple text like the way twitter allows a person to send only so many characters.
Once he logs into his account he can also view most of the updates right there under the “Inside Scoop” which has the following:
Safety Tips: Be Kind to other yoursphere members. Why? Being nice is a good thing. Earlier there was one that read, “Don’t reply to a text you don’t know.”
Did you Know: A lion’s roar can be heard from five miles away.
Question of the week
Dreams for your Future: Scholarship
American Idol Connection
You’ll also see your Circle of Friends (like myspace), feed of all things going on in your groups (spheres), your friend activity and finally any new photos your friends have uploaded. Sound like fun?
I’ll update later in the week as we explore new things in Yoursphere.
Have you signed your kids up for Yoursphere yet? If you’d like to sign you or your child up here is a referral code to help you out: YSMC-0060
