Over the weekend we hit two places, The Indiana War Museum and the Indianapolis Zoo and both were fun. I thought I’d drop in a few pictures so you could have a bit of fun at the zoo too and show you our favorite animals that were there. I’m a bit sad that I didn’t get to see any gorillas but that’s okay, maybe next time. Are you ready?
First up as you walk into the building and turn left you notice an aquarium that you can actually walk through a glass/plastic tunnel through the water. Umm, for a person that is claustrophobic this is a bit scary, especially since I can’t swim but since we were in Indiana I felt it was safer than California and went forward. The dolphins came right up to the window at one point and I totally forgot where I was. I wanted to reach out and touch these two magnificent creatures. Before forgetting I grabbed my camera and snapped a shot and then had to find the family.
Next up were two huge Rhinos but they were sleeping so it wasn’t very fascinating. I had all the kids up by the fence in case they got up since the zoo was getting crowded by now. BalletGirl was on my left-side and out of no where came this loud sneeze and scared her. She jumped so high. Check out what it was below.
You guessed it, another sleeping Rhino but he was off by himself. Guess he fell asleep in the mud.
The sea lions are the first animal you see once you enter the zoo, there were three actually swimming around in the water. There was also one on top of a rock just sun bathing. I’ve always loved the sea lions, ever since my parents drove us to Hearst Castle and stopped by the road to show us a bunch.
The giraffe’s were fun to watch, there were three at first eating from this batch of what looked to be hay. The (what I’m guessing) mom moved away after she got her fair share and went to check up on her babies. The closer she got to the smallest little one that had been laying down the faster it got up. Once she was there it took off, it looked as if she was trying to say “Come over here, let me give you a kiss” but it wouldn’t have it and kept running around her.
I hope you had fun on our trip to the zoo.
