Summer Flashback Friday- Childhood snacks

June 29, 2012 By · 6 Comments

It’s Friday and I’m going to try something new and join a meme. Over at Tammy’s Two Cents they are doing a Summer Flashback and this week’s is “What was Your FAVORITE Childhood Food or Snack?” That should be easy right?

A few of my favorite snacks were Jello Pudding pops (chocolate of course), Pop Rocks, Butterfingers and my favorite cereal (which is no longer around) was Kellogg’s Fruit Squares: Apple Cinnamon flavor.

I must admit I wasn’t like other children. I hated all things kool-aid because it was just sugar water to me, not to mention I got sick on that and pizza when I was about 5 and could never stand the taste again. This meant I didn’t drink many slurpies, popsicles, etc. Anything that tasted remotely like kool-aid was OUT.

Quidam by Cirque Du Soleil Review

June 28, 2012 By · 2 Comments

Yesterday SoccerBoy and I went to Quidam by Cirque Du Soleil at Banker’s Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, IN for opening night.  I must say I enjoyed the show and so did he. I believe we both had the same favorite parts and that was when the dating scene happened. One thing we did notice is that it is mostly done like mimes. No one speaks during it but you totally feel everything going on in the show. The opening music does make you think of a horror movie so if you are taking young ones keep that in mind. Mine would’ve been terrified. You will NOT be able to take photos either.

The dating scene was definitely a riot, everyone was laughing. I do wonder how the boyfriend in the crowd felt. haha. All in all I think the female from the audience played along great, not many would have been able to goof the way she did and she got to walk away with a kiss….even if he did steal it.

Soccerboy use to be very big into yo-yos so watching the ladies (Diabolos) do the tricks with them was great. I still don’t see how they could do all the stunts they did.  The aeriel contortion acts in silk were amazing but I think I was more impressed by the man/woman team (the statue) where he could literally hold her upside down by the back of his neck, neither really holding each other for balance. But then she lifts him off the ground which shocked me because how much strength she had to have to do it. Oh I almost forgot to mention, you’ll get tired out watching them jump rope, especially the one that does a triple jump in the jump ropes. By that I mean there were three sets going all at once and very fast.

If you haven’t been able to go yet there is a show later tonight that you can still buy tickets for and they will be in town until July 1st. So hurry up! If you are up for some laughs and amazing acrobats this is the show for you.

Wordless Wednesday: Foggy Mornings

June 27, 2012 By · 17 Comments

I took this picture last week when I was driving into the city. Talk about foggy.

I grew up in the Mojave Desert so you rarely had to deal with it unless you went towards the bigger cities. I remember hating going to Bakersfield because after leaving the mountains it got thick with fog and you could barely see. I hated heights as it was but to throw in fog too was never fun. Today it is clear and suppose to break record temperatures so fog is NOT an issue. They say the last time they had 100′ on this particular day was way back in the 1930s WOW.

Happy Wordless Wednesday! Don’t forget to leave your link:

Lady Antebellum at Klipsch Music Center

June 26, 2012 By · 2 Comments

This past Sunday, June 24, the hubby and I went to the Lady Antebellum Concert in Noblesville Indiana at the Klipsch Music Center. He recently purchased tickets for me to celebrate our 16 year anniversary, for those that know me you will know I am a HUGE Lady A fan. I absolutely loved it! But before we go too far into this I wanted to explain a few things.

Online (through ticketmaster) we saw the seats he purchased were side by side and all by themselves in front of a pole. Imagine our surprise when we got there to discover that was not the case. In fact we would be separated by a huge pole the entire time. He went off to get a drink and I talked with one of the LiveNation staff members about this who told me she would talk with her manager. She assured me that we would be moved, I made her promise it would not be further back and she said no in the area but together. When the manager came over he walked us to our new seats. We had explained to him that this was his anniversary gift to me and he said no one should celebrate their anniversary that way. He moved us really, really close to the front.

I never was able to catch his name, as his badge was worn around his neck but I never saw the name. I would love to thank him though, so for those out there that know who the older gentleman (possibly the manager) that was seating people in the front is please tell him thank you from the couple that were celebrating 16 years. As for Klipsch Music Center/LiveNation this definitely gave me a positive feeling towards the event and place. My husband was pretty upset when we got there to find out that the seats were not the same as the website. But thanks to some staff members/manager the night was saved.

On to the show as they would say in the entertainment business. At 7pm Daniel Nail, who sings Red Light, played until 7:25.

Darius Rucker, who sings This, played until just before 9.

Suddenly Lady A’s Dance Party came on to the screen and everyone went nuts. There was so much energy in this place, I loved it. Lady A came on and sang all of her songs, the best part was watching her invite a 9 year old on stage with her to sing American Honey. This was definitely a wonderful anniversary gift. Thank you mylove!

One tip for those of you planning on going to a concert there….make sure to bring plenty of money. Water was $4 and for a hamburger/fries/soda meal you are looking at $11-$13. To end on a positive note, this concert had over 15,000 fans in it and nothing got out of control. Traffic was handled perfectly, we just had an issue finding our own vehicle because they do shut one of the gates which confused a few people. Other than that it was a great event!

Current closest tour for 2016:

Windy City Lakeshore Concert June 17-19
Buckeye Country Superfest (Columbus, OH) June 18-19

ToothFairy 2 Review

June 23, 2012 By · 135 Comments

Have you seen ToothFairy the movie? Did you like it? My family loved the movie, especially “The Rock” and had wondered about watching ToothFairy 2 because it was a sequel. We recently got the privilege to watch ToothFairy 2 and liked it very much. I mean I’m a big fan of Larry the Cable Guy so I was bound to like it.

Distributed by 20th Century FOX Home Entertainment, Director Alex Zamm’s ToothFairy2 is the sequel to an already successful “Tooth Fairy” starring the Rock and Ashley Judd.

Larry Guthrie (Larry the Cable Guy) is a fun-loving dreamer with a serious mission: win back the love of his life before she makes a terrible mistake and marries the wrong man!  In his attempt to get back on his long lost love’s good side (Brooke played by Erin Beute), Larry visits the school where she works and make’s a horrible mistake…  He accidentally tells a child that the Tooth Fairy is just a myth.  Crushing the child’s dreams sets off a chain of events that are far more than Larry bargained for including being  “sentenced” to become a Tooth Fairy or face  having his memories erased for good…PLUS losing any chance of getting back the girl of his dreams!  Larry is brought before a 500-year-old Tooth Fairy stuck in a 10-year-old girl’s body (played by newcomer Brady Reiter) for sentencing.  The Tooth Fairy demands that Larry make retribution by temporarily serving as a Tooth Fairy and proving that Tooth Fairies really do exist. His mission?  Larry must collect 20 teeth in 20 days. With his orders in hand, Larry embarks on a journey to prove the existence of Tooth Fairies and to win back the love of his life.

DVD & Blu-Ray are both available at www.FOXCONNECT.com

I love any type of romance movie and this is a funny one with one of my favorite comedians. I think my favorite part is watching Larry suddenly turn into the fairy….in all pink and not just any pink I mean frilly, girly pink. hehe. The outfit is complete with pink tutu, ballet shoes and sparkly pink wings. This movie is a great family movie that will be full of laughs.

Soccerboy’s favorite part was the nachos and bowling, those that have seen it will know what he means. BalletGirl loved when the fairy case worker (Nyx played by Brady Reiter) gets her revenge and makes everything pink. Who is absolutely adorable, by the way.  BabyGirl and Little A loved the snowball fight.  So what was your favorite part, if you’ve seen it?

Disclosure: We were supplied ToothFairy2 DVD to review.  All opinions are my own….oh and the children’s. No other payment was made, just a simple dvd to do the review.
