May 25, 2011 By · No Comments

Today is about my girls, this week both got to get awards. BabyGirl got to bridge from Daisy’s to Brownies this past Monday. Even despite the thunderstorms and sirens going off. She also got a Perfect Attendance award. Last night BalletGirl went to Honor Night and received many awards/certificates. Here’s a list of what she got: President’s Education Award- outstanding academic achievement, A-B Honor roll, Honor Attendance, Core Essentials Team, Honors Choir, DARE Certificate, and of course they gave her her graduation diploma. Next up she goes to Jr. High!

Mamavation/Mili Challenge 8 Complete

May 23, 2011 By · 8 Comments

Wow, I can’t believe that is has already been 7 weeks since we’ve all started the Mamavation/Mili Campaign 8. We’ve all done such great work and you can see the determination and frustration with each post but also the pride we all share. Here’s a quick comparison to me when we first began this and the me today: (All pictures are from today, May 23, 2011)

As you can already see there is a difference and even though it wasn’t nearly as much as some of those awesome Mamavation Moms, it is great. I worked out, got stressed out, took a nose dive and got back up and picked it up again. Throughout all this I never over ate when I got angry, however now I have learned I under eat instead which I will have to monitor that. I want to thank all of you out there that sent me an email/im through some trying times, without your letters I don’t know what I would’ve done.

Ladies, no matter what, I hope you are really doing this for yourself. Don’t ever let your lifestyle challenge become someone else’s success story. In other words, while words are nice to hear make sure you are happy with you. I reacted badly to some comments that were made in my direction, I took it to heart because that is the type of person I am and I’ve been working my tail off. I’ve always said this is MY success story, my thing and it is, if I’d been the person that had tried to lose weight three years ago I would’ve folded under such comments and bailed out. I’m more determined than ever to do this and I can’t wait to meet my goals. Make sure you have goals because it’ll help you see as you hit milestones. I do have a weight goal but my big goal is to be able to run again, have fun and just be able to not be afraid of doing things.

So here’s my Measurements (from last time and this time)

Wordless Wednesday: He’s Like his Grandpa

May 18, 2011 By · 2 Comments

For as long as I can remember my dad never had his shoes tied. Last week SoccerBoy and I went for a long walk and during which I constantly had to tell him to tie his shoes. At one point I took a picture, he just reminded me too much of looking down and seeing my father’s shoes that same way. Do you have one that doesn’t tie their shoes and can? Happy WW!

Help Stop Child Hunger!

May 17, 2011 By · 1 Comment

Today SoccerBoy (age 14) and I went up to Walmart in our pursuit of helping to stop Child Hunger. How do we do that? Simply go to the store and purchase products that are doing this promotion (you can find out by visiting the Conagra website) you will notice them because they have a big red thumb tack on each product that reads:

Child Hunger Ends Here

When you purchase one meal you will be helping to FeedingAmerica. Head on over to www.childhungerendshere.com and enter the 8 digit number found on the product. Once you do it’ll say thank you for purchasing, etc but the surprise is you will have your choice of a variety of coupons to print out as a thank you. Take those coupons and do it again and again.

We ended up getting a variety of different things just so we knew we were helping out. I also saw 3 shirts for a buck each and grabbed those up. Tomorrow the kids will eat those KidCuisine meals and I’m sure they’ll be very happy with it. Hope you enjoy the videos.

How to Enter your information? Not to worry it is easy:

We ended up getting Peter Pan peanut butter, Chef Boyardee, Healthy Choice meals, Kid Cuisines and Marie Calenders meal bakes.

Disclosure: This shop has been compensated as part of a social shopper insights study for Collective Bias. All photos, videos and purchase choices were mine alone.

Mamavation Monday: Stress & Losing Weight

May 16, 2011 By · 6 Comments

Before I even announce my big announcement for this week I want to tell everyone it has been one of those stressful weeks. You know the type that everything could go wrong will, or at least it feels like that. But at the same time it was one of the BEST weeks ever. So as many may guess for me I don’t eat when I’m stressed or really pissed. Yes I eat when I’m sad but not the other. This past week I lost 6.6lbs. This is great and all but this is due to stress.

194.8 (-6.8lbs)

So this week it means I have to push that much harder to keep the weight off, workout more, watch what I eat but make sure I actually do eat. So here is something I wanted to share with everyone, as I know many of you have been watching my progress since day 1. I’ve actually lost 30+lbs since beginning my journey. 🙂 Woo hoo!

Okay that picture didn’t count but you can see it from this morning, it is now almost 6pm and I just took another to show my feet to qualify for the MILI challenge. As you can see since waking up, eating breakfast and lunch and even walking 4.5miles I still gained back weight but not much so I’m okay with that. Can ya seriously gain a lb in a day? Who knows but I did. Just gotta work out that much harder then. 🙂

In your wellness efforts what is the simplest healthy habit that makes you feel most centered after doing it?

For me this is walking, I love walking and doing Zumba because it gives me so much energy after doing it. You?
