Worldess Wednesday: Easter Morning

The kids on Easter Morning with their baskets….okay little A was more into his blue bunny. :) The kids loved waking up bright and early to hunt for the eggs all over the house, but I think they loved their baskets even more. Unless you ask Little A, he’s been hopping around the house like a bunny the last few days and hiding eggs around the house. So be careful where ya step for you might just crack an egg, thankfully they are plastic.

Mamavation: Our Families, Our Success

I am still struggling with the weight roller coaster, since Monday I did not peek at the scale…normally I peek first thing in the morning but I just didn’t want to this week. I knew I’d been working out, but I also knew I needed to drink more water. I can hit between 8000-11000 steps in a day now but the water I still struggle getting to even 100 oz.  So did I gain or lose weight? Remember last week I came in at exactly 202. Amazingly I lost some, I am now 201.6 so that is 0.4 not a lb but still a loss right? Course I was at 204.8 when I posted my measurements last time so I have lost weight from that day. :)

Please ignore the toes, I really need to put more polish on them but I wanted to take the pic to post this morning.

This week’s Mamavation Monday Question is: Who in your world deserves a “shout out” this week for pushing you to better yourself?  What did they do?

Really I think everyone that checks on my progress deserves a shout out. All the comments put a smile on my face, having the support of family and friends helps me to have the motivation to go on. I love getting on my site and reading comments on my weight loss posts or even seeing them on my weekly weigh in photos on Facebook. Believe it or not, those really do help a person out.  I love that my hubby supports me but I also love that my kids really enjoy working out with me when I toss in a Zumba DVD. My youngest, Little A always walks up to me in the morning now and says “Mom, you Zumba, shake shake now?” lol. I love it! I also love that I went to my first Zumba class this weekend, met some ladies and had fun while hubby watched the kids. I look forward to more hour long classes of sweating now.

I must admit though, even though many say you try losing weight because of your family for me it is still the same reason. Maybe I am selfish but this is my thing, it is something I don’t want to live with anymore. When I look in the mirror now I stop and really look. It isn’t like before I started this and I’d quickly pass it because I was disgusted with myself. I know what I’ve done to lose the weight and I’m really proud of it. I can see the work and I can see where it needs more work and I plan for how to attack those areas. The marathons and runs I plan on doing this year may not be huge (not yet) but they are MY first step.  These are things I am doing for myself and by myself. The kids are joining in which is great, it is not something I am pushing but I love to be able to do things with them and it is helping me. But my reasoning was totally selfish, I wanted to be proud of me and honestly I am now.

Tacos For Easter Dinner

Tonight we had an tacos for Easter Dinner. Truth is I never would’ve thought of tacos but I used a site called Give Every Night a New Flavor. This site is a great tool for moms and dads trying to think of a meal. The neat thing is it gives you three choices and narrows down a selection for you to choose from.

As you can see you get to choose between four types of cuisines: Asian, Tex Mex, Italian and American. Then you pick how long you want it to take to make the meal: less than 15 minutes, less than 30 minutes or 30 minutes or more. Finally you will pick how many will eat this meal: Single, Serve 2 or Serve 4 or more. I picked less than 30 minutes, Tex Mex and serves more than four and got a selection of choices but I picked the Hard/Soft taco “Rockin Taco” because as you know I’ve been trying to lose weight and didn’t want to go overboard, even on Easter.  The neat thing is each idea had a list of ingredients and how to make it but on the side of the site are also coupons you can print out. I wrote my ingredients on a piece of paper and headed to Kroger to get my supplies. I wasn’t sure about my list of ingredients though since I’d never thought of using Ro*Tel® Original Diced Tomatoes & Green Chilies in tacos. Normally I cut up all my vegetables (tomato/lettuce/etc and toss in the meat, cheese and salsa. I liked this, it gave it a new flavor and I didn’t have to add the salsa. I could’ve but this worked out fine.

All the kids, even the hubby liked this meal. So tomorrow I’m going to use their “Chicken and Vegetable Stir Fry.” I have 4 kids and do college assignments or classes most night so a quick meal under 30 minutes works for me.

Red Toolbox Mini Case Kit Review & Giveaway

Red Toolbox asked us recently if we’d like to review their wood building kits for kids. I said yes, what better way to let my kids create me a Mother’s Day Gift right? I mean this would be made by them, all their hard work and they get to do something with their hands and pride. I said yes!

I was sent the following:

- Mini Case Kit (jewelry box for mom)
- Red Toolbox Set B: Includes a mini hammer, Screwdrivers, metal file, work goggles, handsaw, clamp and tape measure.
- Cordless drill

The mini case kit is instructed to be for ages 8+ and I must admit it is definitely for the older kids because of safety issues. However, SoccerBoy (age 14) did allow Little A (age 4) to help hand him certain tools, wear the goggles, file things, etc. Nothing dangerous though. They did this in one day, but still need to pain it and I know both will have fun doing that. There were clear step by step instructions with pictures to help them out. All the pieces were there and they just needed to saw the edges (which were marked), drill and glue the pieces together. So if you are looking for a craft that will really have your child use their hands and will have an adult nearby (or older brother/sister) then this is the kit for you. Psst, I also hear they are getting some in that will be for the YOUNGER kids. Woo hoo!
