“The Tourist” and Old Memories

March 31, 2011 By · 2 Comments
I was lucky enough to get to view “The Tourist” for #couchcritics recently and must say it was just as good as I thought it would be. For those that do not know this movie stars two wonderful actors: Johnny Depp (everyone faint now) and Angelina Jolie (mother of 5).  I really wanted to see this because I watched the clips as they came in as Brad and Angelina took their family there while filming, it just looked like a lot of fun and I wanted to see Ang and Depp in this movie together. Currently you can get the movie at Redbox for less than two bucks.

The whole movie revolves around an American tourist, Frank, who happens to be visiting Italy. Elise is being followed by a huge group, she knows it and tries throwing them off by running into Frank. Without going into too many details she convinces Frank to hang out with her but he soon finds himself being shot at, diving from buildings, boats, etc. How can an innocent tourist find so much trouble in one woman? Why would one go through all this?

I definitely enjoyed the movie, but it made me begin thinking about places we’d been to in our past. Sad to say I haven’t been out of the United States, but I have a ton of memories. The hubby of course, being military has been all over the world. But not many “good” memories where he has been outside the US. Instead we have a ton of photos from places like Disneyland and cross country trips. We were asked to make a Travel photo journal through our local The UPS Store this of course made me realize how very little “real” pictures we have of the last two children and how long it has been since we’ve visited Disneyland.

I had a few issues with getting my pictures to load but after finally finding ones that would I decided to make my oldest daughter a photo booklet of her trip to Jefferson City with her class (and me) last year. She was delighted when she found out today. I’ll be making more for the kids in the next few months. But this whole assignment made me realize I need more pictures of the kids and I even bought a few photo albums for the others I have had in a bag all these years.

Wordless Wednesday: Son turns 14

March 30, 2011 By · 2 Comments

I can’t believe how long ago this was. SoccerBoy was only three at the time this photo was taken. He was full of life, adventure and love….

Don’t get me wrong, those didn’t change in him. But now he has just turned 14 (yesterday) and I don’t know where the years have went.

Happy Wordless Wednesday! To my son: I hope you had a wonderful birthday and many, many more to come.

Using the Vitamin Finder at Meijer

March 28, 2011 By · 1 Comment

I’ve always been told I should take vitamins. With each pregnancy I was told I should take one form of vitamin over another, and of course after each vitamin. I’ve been told I should take them obviously for my health, but also because my lack of sunshine or energy or my eye lashes. For those that do not know, every year my eye lashes fall out. No I’m not meaning a few at a time, by the end of Spring/beginning of summer I will have no eye lashes.

Truth is I’m bad at remembering to take pills. I simply do not like them and don’t make it a habit to do it. Something changed last year though, maybe it was the thought that I had cancer and the doctor not knowing for sure, or maybe it was just knowing I’m at an age where I must be more careful. I know my body is getting older, it has the signs to prove it. Just maybe it is time for me to pay attention to it more and to prevent things from happening to it.

Earlier this year I decided to make a lifestyle change and to quick eating the junk and drink the horrible things I’d been putting in my body. I’ve done a good job at keeping that habit, the new, good habit that is. So why not add vitamins to it? I was recently asked to try the new vitamin finder online for www.meijer.com so I did and I went and bought three bottles of the vitamins they recommended I take after filling out a short survey. You can find out what types of vitamins you should be taking by doing the Meijer’s Vitamin Finder Survey. Here’s my experience.

Weekly Workout Goals for End of March

March 28, 2011 By · 4 Comments

Well I didn’t get the Mamavation Mom but I’m still here to lose the weight and get fit. My good buddy Char of PlusAthletic posted her weekly workout goals so I wanted to do it too. My goals for this week are:

- Daily 30 walk
- 30 min walk on treadmill (at least 3 times during the week)
- Leslie Sansone 3 mile walk dvd (twice a week)
- continue with Mamavation drills

Finally I’m entering these challenges:
-200 crunches
-100 pushups
- 300 lunges

So that’s my goal and to eat right. Kids are on a Spring break and have already told me they want to do MOST of this with me this week. It’ll be interesting to see how it goes. Off to post this on my wall

Mamavation Monday: Year Goals

March 27, 2011 By · 13 Comments

Mamavation

Weight chatter: so far my weight has went down to 200 and up to 208 and back down and up. This morning it was 204.5, so no telling what it will be tomorrow morning. But I’ve been told for a while that this could happen so I’m just hoping it goes below 200. My next mini goal is to go under 200, actually to 199 was my exact words.

bbq 012 Exercises: All week long we did our drills, as soon as Steph from FitMomtraining would post on twitter what they were I’d post them on Facebook and do them. I even found out others were doing them with me and they asked me to continue to post even after this week. I do plan on posting whatever it is I do. Whether it is a program (ie like when I did Lean Cuisine Challenge or the 5 day fast forward Cinch plan) or an exercise I do. We are walking outside again, even in the cold wind. Granted now everyone is getting sick. :( bbq 020

Food: I’ve been doing really good on what I put into my body. This past week I cooked a salmon for the first time in the oven. Normally I eat salmon if it is prepared for me in a restaurant but I found a “healthier” recipe online and tried it out. Hubby and I went shopping and spent a HUGE amount (won’t say the price because beyond what we ever spend) on food, not just any food though…healthy food. He told me last week he wanted to start doing this with me so that is a step in the right direction. :) Woo hoo me! It is one thing to do the healthy lifestyle yourself but trust me it is a whole other thing when the entire family wants to do the changes with you. He won’t go as extreme as me because he still likes his red meat, but all things start small right? :)

This week’s Bloggy Carnival is brought to you by Earth Footwear.  One lucky winner will walk away with a pair of those wonderful shoes. I’ve been wanting a pair for a while so crossing my fingers that it is me. :) The question:

bbq 021Where will your feet take you this year? Any plans for a big hike, race, or just a lot of walking?

This year I have signed up to do the 5K here in town, I’m unsure at this point if I’ll be doing this myself or not. Hubby wont be in town so I may decide to walk this with this kids. I don’t feel right leaving them at the finish line for the whole thing. We shall see. I do plan on getting a bike this summer and will be doing lots of riding at that point. This will be big as I haven’t got on a bike since my two accidents 4 1/2 years ago. Other than that my goalbbq 005 is to keep exercising every day, walk at least 4 our of 7 days of the week and keep eating right. I still have my big goal of losing 75 lbs by the end of the year.

P.S. I’ll be posting tomorrow with a picture of my scale for you. In the meantime I’ve added pictures from today’s  backyard bbq. Hubby bought fish for me. :)
