New Year’s Countdown

December 31, 2007 By · No Comments

The New Year’s Countdown has begun. What will you be doing to ring in the new year? Can you even believe 2008 is here already? This has been a quick year for me, hopefully though 2008 will be a better one. I’ll be writing a few posts today that reflect on this past year, how this blog has formed, the people I’ve met and a few other things.

Tonight, I’ll be with my family and to toast in the New Year I’ll probably visit with my dad since we are in town. Our original plan was to leave tonight but I think it’ll be safer this way. What do you think?

How many of you will watch the ball drop? How many of you will fall asleep? Both have happened to me in the past.

Girl Lies to Get Hannah Montana Tickets

December 30, 2007 By · No Comments

This story makes me sick, no we may not be military but anyone that lies about the death of a military person or father is sick. In case ya haven’t read the news a little girl wrote an essay explaining why she should win the Hannah Montana tickets, in the story she wrote her dad died while fighting in Iraq. Long story short, he didn’t, it was all a lie her mom put her up too. This is so sick, I can’t believe how they would even lie about something like this. There are children all over that are losing their daddy in war and you don’t see them taking that event and doing it, in fact I bet they’d feel bad but they don’t do it. It’s sick, sorry but this was wrong. I wonder what type (if any) of trouble they’ll get into. As of right now they’ve lost the tickets and I believe everything that went with it.

What do you think of it? Should they lose all the Hannha Montana items? How far do you think this has gone, what do you think should happen?

Bad Diner Warning

December 27, 2007 By · No Comments

I wanted to inform all my readers about a diner I visited last night off the I-70 in Limon. It’s a small place, looks cute from the outside called, “Oscar’s Bar & Grill,” as you enter on the right side is the bar, immediately in front of you is a salad bar and on your left is the dining area. We waited a few seconds before anyone noticed we’d entered the diner and were quickly seated by a very nice man. Things seemed good until we placed our drink order.

I had to change our son’s diaper (9 months) and got up to take the girls to the bathroom. Another couple warned me there was no area in the bathroom to change him. This is fine as I’m use to sitting down and doing it. However the issue was once the two girls and I walked in one bathroom stall was broken, the other being remodeled and the last one…well not so clean. The girls were quick of course and we hurried up and left the bathroom.

Back at the table the waiter had brought us too many drinks, which we had to explain that only two got sodas while the kids were lemonade. They weren’t happy, but he’d wrote it down. Immediately I began to get a feeling about the place but wanted to try it out and see. The table felt very dirty too and there was still trash on the floor, being beside a truck stop I figured they were just busy.

The menu, lets just say I order “A Fish Called Wanda,” (halibut) at $15 and the hubby order prime rib that cost $34.00. They brought my meal first and placed it down in front of me and left. They were gone until the hubby and kids got their meals, which was a good 5 minutes or more. I of course had no silverware the entire time. There were only three families in the diner at the time. So, once I could sink my teeth into my meal it wasn’t worth eating. The mashed potatoes were lukewarm with cold spots in them, the steamed veggies were slightly warm on the outside and cold on the inside and the fish….well let’s just say I took one bite and was disgusted. It had fat or something all through it, either way it was a meal that I barely touched. My husband’s prime rib looked great, it was huge…but one bite and he said, “ice cold and nasty.” It was a medium done.

Before we left we got to witness one of the other waitresses talking to herself about the customers. She was iritated and didn’t want to be there, one family had complained that their food was cold and wanted it heated or remade and she got all upset and started talking back. (as far as I know you please the customers) well another family came in on her section and as she was passing me she tells herself, I’ll swipe the table but I won’t wipe it and they can deal with the trash under it. The family was disgusted, it was a hubby wife combo with a little girl. They quickly moved to a somewhat cleaner table after she walked away. All in all, I say this place sucked, it was overly priced, tasted like crap and wasn’t clean. Best part was they didn’t want to be there, from what the one waitress said there was one cook and the three minors were being waiters for the family section and serving in the bar.

So let this be a warning to you, the “Oscar’s Bar and Grill” in Limon, CO is not somewhere you want to stop.
